The Hague, 1 March 2023 – In a packed Paardcafé yesterday, seven promising DJs showed their talent to a professional jury. And the winner is… WEZZ! WEZZ is known for its signature style of bass-loaded sets and mix of groovy sounds with Latin elements.
Valentijn Schulz of The Hague University of Applied Sciences organizes this annual HI The Hague Student DJ Contest: “The level was very high again this year. WEZZ turned the room upside down. With his positive vibes and energetic show, he got the whole audience dancing.” Mun Oz and Niek came out to be great runner ups: "The jury needed a long time to reach a decision because they also scored very high technically and in terms of originality."
Florian Wessiepe, aka WEZZ and International Creative Business student at Inholland The Hague, is over the moon: “Winning this DJ Contest is a dream come true. As a 12-year-old boy I already dreamed of being on big stages and now, years later, it's finally happening. And that feeling is indescribable. Hard work, practice and dedication has brought me here now, and I can't wait to see where this journey goes. Thank you to everyone who supports me!”
Do you want vibe in the flow of new DJ talent? WEZZ, Mun Oz, Niek, the other finalists and last year's winner – HALO – will perform on May 5 in the HI The Hague Student Experience at the Liberation Festival in The Hague. WEZZ will also perform at Den Haag Outdoor (June) and the Green Garden Festival (August) this year.
